How to change your auto insurer

By on 20:24

Due to the large number of accidents and disasters affecting motorists each year, the price of auto insurance is sometimes very high. However, due to the competition between the many insurers, it is possible to find a large price difference between the different protections on the market. If you are not satisfied with your current insurer, discover how you can make a difference.

Furthermore premiums too high, various reasons can motivate your desire to change insurers, such as a change of vehicle or in your personal situation, or dissatisfaction due to poor service. However, if it is only a question of price, you might first try to negotiate a little with your insurer.

If after some research you discovered that you could get a better price elsewhere, mention it to your insurance and show proof of what you say. Try to get them to give you a reduction to reach the prices offered by the competition.Refuses or he simply can not meet your request, you could then take steps to change insurer.

The automobile insurance contract you signed with your insurer does not bind you to him until the end of your life, of course. You are free to terminate this contract if you wish, and your insurer should not be seen as a betrayal or a personal offense. A contract is renewed usually on the same date each year if the insured has not manifested. The maturity date of a contract is the perfect time to tell your insurer that you no longer want to do business with him.

To do this, try to take at least two months before the due date. This notice is important, and do not comply could cost you. Send a letter to your insurer, with acknowledgment of receipt, to explain your decision and, if necessary, the reasons justifying it. Be sure to keep a copy of this letter as proof of your cancellation.

If you wish to cancel your contract beyond the expiration date, it is possible, but a little trickier. Proceed in the same way, by sending a letter to your insurance company and give them the necessary justifications explaining your decision. However, it remains free to accept or reject your termination, and is also entitled to ask you to pay compensation. For these reasons, it is easier to wait until the maturity date of the contract before acting.

Before you tell your insurer of your intention to cancel your contract, it would be prudent to purchase insurance from another insurer to avoid not benefit from any protection for a certain period of time. Prior to the change, so be sure to have found a company offering lower prices for quality protection.
